Learning Programmes

We support your child's learning and development by using various Learning Programmes.

The programmes are built into your child's normal nursery day.

Circle Time

During Circle Time, children will sit in a circle with their teacher, the teacher will take the lead initially, and then allow the children to shape the learning.

Circle Time helps to develop:

Confidence & speaking skills

Music and Movement

These activities can include singing and dancing, or activities that allow children to create music with instruments.

Music and Movement helps to develop:

Bucket Therapy

Bucket Therapy is a fun way of building children's' attention using their favourite toys.

During bucket time, children are provided with motivating and visually exciting experiences that encourage them to focus their attention for extended periods of time and to take part in an adult-led group activity.

Bucket Time helps to develop:

Dough Disco

Dough disco involves moulding play dough in time to music and performing different actions such as rolling it into a ball, flattening it, putting each individual finger into the dough, rolling it into a sausage and squeezing it.

Dough Disco helps to develop:

Motor skills
Hand and finger strength and dexterity
Mark making skills

Squiggle Whilst you Wiggle

Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle is an early writing program. Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle incorporates dance, music and large movements to help children develop the fine muscle control they need for writing. They will learn a new gross motor movement while dancing to music. The children then transfer these movements to floor level and use writing tools.

Yoga

Yoga is fun and teaches children to persevere, be patient, and work towards achieving more. Yoga exercises the body and mastering a pose can offer a huge boost to both their confidence and self-esteem.

Yoga helps to develop:

Balance and coordination
Concentration
Self regulation

Makaton

Makaton is a way of communicating with others using hand signs and symbols alongside words. It is similar to sign language however it is a more efficient language programme to use with children as the signs are easy to copy and only focus on key words.

Makaton helps to develop:

Communication and language
Social skills
Motor skills
Listening and attention skills
