A Day at Littleleaps

Every day at Littleleaps is filled with fun play and learning.

Our dedicated staff team play a vital role in creating a nurturing, stimulating environment where children can thrive. Throughout the nursery day, they support each child’s learning and development through careful observation, thoughtful planning, and responsive interaction.

While every day at Littleleaps is unique, here's an idea of what your child could be doing:

Arrival

It's a busy time as we welcome children to start their day. When arriving you will be greeted by the friendly and familiar nursery team. The team will take any messages and guide your child in to their specific nursery room.

Sessions at Littleleaps

Sessions at Littleleaps can be Mornings, Afternoons or All Day Sessions. Our Sessions start and finish times offer flexibility to meet the needs of different families. Find out more about what sessions we offer on our Available Sessions page.

After arriving at nursery your child will join others in their room. The environment has been designed to support the children's age and stage of development. The environment is full of resources to create curiosity, play and learning.

Sessions can include nursery breakfast, indoor play, circle time, morning & afternoon snack, outdoor play, lunch, learning programmes, tea/dinner and as much other fun play and learning as possible.

Outdoor play

Outdoor play offers time for your child to explore and take risks with the support of our team. Outdoor play encourages children to develop their gross motor skills (e.g. running, skipping, hopping, climbing) while benefiting from healthy fresh air.

Outdoor play also provides natural learning opportunities, the seasons and weather changes, plants grow, wildlife flourishes and planes fly through the sky.

Our nursery location provides excellent opportunities for external trips to shops, parks, churches and much more (your child will only be taken on external trips with prior consent).

Lunch

Families can choose to provide a healthy packed lunch from home, or choose for their child to have a freshly prepared nursery hot lunch, prepared by our nursery chef.

Nursery hot lunches provide a healthy and varied menu every day, which encourages children to discover different tastes and textures and try different food

Children will enjoy the experience of sharing a sociable meal with peers.

Indoor play

Children will be given time for free play which encourages imagination, problem solving, self discovery and social opportunities with peers and key workers.  Children will also take part in adult lead learning programmes and activities which are planned around the children's interests.

Snack

Nursery snack is served during all Morning and Afternoon sessions.

Snack helps fill the gap between main meals and provides needed energy and nutrients.

Snack can include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy. Well-balances snacks provide essential vitamins and minerals and help shape lifelong food preferences.

Naps and quiet time

Naps and quiet time are essential during the early years because they support a child’s physical health, emotional regulation, brain development, and learning capacity.

Most children naturally begin to outgrow midday naps between the ages of 3 and 5 years, but the exact age varies based on the child's individual needs, activity levels, temperament and sleep patterns.

Some children outgrow naps earlier than others. We offer children flexible rest opportunities and quiet time which provides; a break for stimulation, a chance to rest their bodies and minds, time for reflection or independent play.

Tea time

Families can either provide a healthy packed Tea/lunch box from home, or if the family plans to have tea together at home later they can provide a few extra snacks to eat with others.

Having tea at nursery can support busy families, ensuring that children are fed before going home and can ease the evening routine.

Tea time at nursery provides another opportunity to share a social meal with their peers.

Home time

At the end of each day, a team member will tell you all about their exciting day at nursery. You'll be told what they have eaten, how long they have slept for and what activities they have done and enjoyed the most. Children under 2 will also receive a care diary report via our learning journal and management software and app.

We want you to feel part of their day to ensure you don't miss out on any important achievements and development milestones.

Keeping in touch

Outside of your child's sessions, you can contact us at any time of day.

We encourage open communication and take pride in working closely with families to ensure children receive the best care and education.
