Nursery rhyme week

Nursery rhyme week is an international celebration promoting the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development. We already incorporate many traditional nursery rhymes as part of our daily routine however; this week we have had a bigger emphasis in provision. This week the children have been eager and excited to choose and join in with their favourite rhymes and use song cards and puppets too.

All children have been given a choice to choose these independently or within a group. Some of the pre-school children made their own salt dough frogs to go alongside ’5 little speckled frogs’ counting activity and tuff spot.

We have further explored inch wincy spider, old McDonald had a farm,

5 current buns, 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive and ba ba black sleep.

We can’t wait for the rest of the week and to explore even more nursery rhymes I wonder what is going to be next....

We then sang 50 nursery rhymes as our target in just one day! and we achieved this! a big well done to everyone
