Bug explorers!!!
We showed an interest in exploring insects around the garden.
One child said “I’m going to find him” “I’ve got a spider” “I can’t see anything yet” “look what we’ve got-a slug” as they investigated the soil areas in our outdoor environment.
We used magnifying glasses to see them up close and looked through the netted investigation cage.
We found a spider, slug and woodlouse before releasing them back into the environment where they came from. We then explored our own caterpillars at nursery and had a lot of discussion around these too.
