From our interest in minibeasts we have updated part of our garden area to follow the children’s favourite topic of interest. The children helped dig out the soiled planting area ready to update. During this time we found a variety of minibeasts but especially found lots of worms. The pre school children were happy to explore and observed the insects in the wheelbarrow or on their hands. Most children were keen to hold the worms but were careful in keeping the worms safe; transferring them to the wheelbarrow.
We explored our garden visuals to see if we could spot any additional minibeasts in the soil.
“It’s so cute” “it felt wiggly” “it’s with its mum and dad” “where is its head?” “He hasn’t got many legs” “it’s in the dirt” “look what I found, I like that one”.
The children showed awe and wonder during this time with fantastic questioning and interest.
We have also helped care for our garden area by continuing to water our apple tree and tomato plant too (please see photos for current pictures).
A big well done to everywhere who has helped care for our outdoor environment.
